For our adventurous, outdoor loving families, we’ve put together a list of family friendly campgrounds around Vermont.
Get your tents and s’mores supplies ready, it’s time to go camping!
1. Green Mountain Family Campground, Bristol
This family-focused campground has everything you need for a comfortable camping experience, including full hook-up service including water, electricity and sewer. WiFi is also available in most campsites. Keep busy with kids activities, hiking trails, biking trails, and swimming pools.
2. Button Bay State Park, Ferrisburgh
This State Park offers a great playground as well as a swimming pool with a water slide. Boat rentals are also available. Don’t forget to check out the nature programs at the nature center!
3. Burton Island, near St. Albans
Burton Island is a 253-acre park off the southwestern tip of St. Albans Point in Lake Champlain’s ‘Inland Sea’. The park is accessible only by boat, with the state’s passenger ferry making the 10-minute trip from Kamp Kill Kare State Park. Burton Island has over three miles of shoreline, hiking trails, and a nature center. Camping on an island is an experience your children will never forget!
4. Grand Isle State Park, Grand Isle
Grand Isle State Park is the most-visited campground in the state park system. It has beaches and a boat launch for canoes, kayaks, and other watercraft. There is also a nature center. Campers at Grand Isle State Park also receive free day entry to the beaches at nearby Knight Point State Park and Alburgh Dunes State Park.
5. Elmore State Park, Lake Elmore
This is a great place to camp if you enjoy hiking. The views from the fire tower at the top of Elmore Mountain are legendary! This park also has a sandy beach for swimming and boat rentals for you to further explore Lake Elmore.
6. Getaway Mountain Campground, Ascutney
This is a 100 site campground with beautiful scenery and a heated pool. Special activities include music, bonfires, bingo, wagon rides, and a “Feed the Fish Pond.” There are also many activities nearby, such as hiking, fishing, and boating.
7. Tree Farm Campground, Springfield
Explore nearby downtown Springfield from this forested campground. With 144 acres, there is plenty of hiking within the campground and also access to Muckross State Park. There are lots of holiday parties and kids activities. While there, enjoy the beautiful gardens and artwork.
8. Breezy Meadows Campground, Concord
Located on the Moose River, this campground offers wonderful fishing and canoeing opportunities. There are also six miles of trails and a heated pool. Breezy Meadows is great for active families, with sports courts, playgrounds, and mini-golf.
9. Tree Corners Family Campground, Irasburg
Built in 2004, this is one of Vermont’s newest campgrounds. It has all the amenities, such as two heated pools, a water slide, and an arcade. There are plenty of planned activities to keep the family entertained and also playgrounds and games such as horseshoes to enjoy on your own schedule.

11. Silver Lake State Park, Barnard
This busy park is popular for its sandy swimming area, picnic grounds, and camping area. Its proximity to Woodstock and other central Vermont tourist destinations makes it ideal for family vacations. This is also a spot for great fishing on Silver Lake! Boat rentals are available as well.
12. Jamaica State Park, Jamaica
This state park is a favorite with families. Located on the bend of the West River, it provides great opportunities for fishing and swimming. For more activities, explore the hiking trails or nature center.
