A Pink Lemonade First Birthday Party

3

I can hardly believe that my little Maggie turned one on May 8. It seems like just yesterday I was sharing her birth story with all of you and cherishing the newborn days that are gone in the blink of an eye. I know everyone always tells you that it goes so fast, and I definitely found that to be true with Nora. But with Maggie it seems like things are going at warped speed!

To celebrate this year we decided to go with a low-key family party since my parents would be in town. I didn’t want to go too “low-key” though since I’ve already felt like Maggie has definitely gotten the short end of the stick on many occasions (welcome to the life of a second child). So I decided to go ahead and plan a themed first birthday party with the help of some fabulous local businesses!

Welcome to Maggie’s Pink Lemonade First Birthday Party!

Now before you start to think that I got all crafty and pinteresty on you, think again. The banner and cute cupcake decorations I got from an Etsy store. You can find just about anything on Etsy- all I had to do was type in “pink lemonade birthday party” and I had tons of options!

The lemon cupcakes and pink rose smash cake are from the fabulously talented Julie at Caketopia Cakes. Seriously, if you are looking for a cake or cupcakes for any special occasions, contact her. You won’t be disappointed!

Maggie loved when we sang her happy birthday and enjoyed having all eyes on her. She’s a bit of a ham.

She clapped along, kept grabbing for the cupcake, and really wanted to touch the flame from the candle.

After our fun, little celebration, Amy from Amy Guidice Photography came to take a few photos of the birthday girl! We love Amy and were so excited when she agreed to do the shoot for us. It was fate considering I found out that she had a lemonade stand that we could use as a prop! We also were able to use a fun yellow romper and a beautiful headband from Makayla’s Garden Boutique for the shoot! Her shop is full of beautiful headbands, necklaces, rompers and bow ties, so be sure to check it out!

We attempted to get some pictures of a traditional cake smash. I say attempted because, well, see for yourself…

Needless to say, she was not a fan of the whole cake smash idea. Not at all. But I have to say she still looks pretty cute screaming her head off! Nora didn’t want any cake to go to waste, so she helped herself to some frosting.

And we were finally able to calm Maggie down long enough to grab one last sweet shot of myself and the girls…

Overall it was a wonderful day celebrating our little Maggie. We are so grateful to have her as part of our family. She brings endless amounts of joy with her infectious smile, adorable dimples, zest for life and sweet snuggles. I love you Maggie Grace!
