ADHD Task Bracelets – A Helpful Tool to Remember it All

0

I recently heard about ADHD task bracelets and I was instantly intrigued.

What even is an ADHD task bracelet? Basically, it’s just a bracelet that helps remind you of all the things that you need to do throughout the day. I love this concept because I constantly get sidetracked and forget to complete the things on my to-do list. When I went to research task bracelets, though, I was overwhelmed by the many types available. Here are some of my favorite options:

Smart Watches

Many people already have smartwatches, so make yours work for you! Set reminders for the things you usually forget, like taking pills. I need a monthly reminder to give my dog her heartworm medication. As your kids get older and want their own smartwatch, this is a great time to set them up with reminders, particularly for times when you aren’t with them to give reminders. Just remember to set reminders when you will be in the right place to take care of them. For example, if I get a reminder to water my house plants while I’m at work, I will forget all about it by the time I get home.

Charm Bracelets

I love charm bracelets because I use them as a fidget. If you need help to remember certain tasks, you can add a charm to the bracelet to remind you. I like that no one else will even know that your bracelet is to remind you of tasks. My favorite charm bracelet is a leather band that charms slide onto. I can change them quickly and easily and it also doesn’t jingle and make noise like some metal bracelets do. Every time I fidget with a charm, I am reminded of a task that I need to accomplish that day. If you need more of a direct reminder, you can get bracelets with charms that specifically say each task you want to complete.

Paper Bracelets

I also read about someone who wears paper bracelets with tasks written on them. They only rip off the bracelet once they have completed that task. While this seems like too much work for me on a daily basis, it seems like a useful tool for a day that isn’t typical. I usually remember to do my daily tasks by doing them in the same order each day, so I tend to get really thrown for a loop when unusual things pop up in my schedule. The paper bracelets would definitely help in those situations and also for tasks that I just don’t want to do. Ripping off the bracelets is a great way to visualize how much work you are accomplishing throughout the day. I can see paper task bracelets as being particularly satisfying for kids.

Bead Bracelets

You can also use beads to make a simple and colorful task bracelet. The different colors just need to mean something to you. It will take a while to get used to what task each color stands for, but once that happens, you can tick through the beads each day to double-check that you have completed everything on your to-do list. Bead bracelets are a great project for kids to make themselves. They can even use letter beads to spell out reminders.

ADHD task bracelets can help you remember the things you need to do each day. They can be modified in many different ways to be suitable for adults or children. It just takes some experimenting to see which version works best for you!
