Costco Mom Hour 2017 | A FREE Shopping Event in Vermont {Registration Open!}

It’s not a secret that I love Costco. If I’m being truthful, I actually find Costco to be a magical place, where dreams come true. If Costco were kool-aid I’m drinking all of it (maybe, they should offer that as a sample some time).

My love affair with Costco started in 2010 when I moved to Vermont. My now husband was in the market for a new large screen television. He did his research and he decided that Costco was where he could get the best quality television for the lowest price. He was also really impressed with their return policy. So we got a joint membership, purchased the television of his dreams (the savings on the tv was more than the cost for the year membership) and never looked back.

In mom groups on facebook I see questions all of the time about whether or not a Costco Membership is worth the yearly cost ($60 for a Gold Membership and $120 for an Executive Membership).

I feel it absolutely is, and here’s why:

• I’m able to get all the necessities that a family needs in bulk at a significant discount. I refuse to buy toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, dishwasher pods, garbage bags, diapers, baby wipes, dryer sheets, shampoo, conditioner and other toiletries anywhere buy Costco. After two trips of buying these items that we use daily the membership has paid for itself. 
• The produce, which my kids eat like it’s going out of style, 9 times out of 10 is cheaper and looks better than at the grocery store. We cannot take a trip to Costco without going into the “cold place” (the walk in cooler) and get at least one container of raspberries, a set of english cucumbers, and 2 lbs of strawberries.
• Costco makes buying organic affordable. Costco is leading the nation in organic sales and offers organic produce, meat, and tons of frozen and packaged items.
• They carry a ton of local Vermont products. I appreciate that although Costco is a national chain, they support local businesses. I often grab Shelburne Vineyards wine, Vermont Smoke & Cure mini meat sticks, Switchback beer, Boves Pasta Sauce (it’s like buying two jars and getting one free!) and Cabot cheese. 
• The variety of products under one roof is pretty sensational. Where else can you find electronics, tools, toys, clothing, food, diapers, bakery, meat, optical, car accessories, housewares, swing sets, pet products and so much more under one roof? One of my 3.5 year olds favorite games to play at Costco is: what will we find today?!
• Going along with the variety of products are the brand names that are available. I was shopping at Costco a few days ago and there were brands like: KitchenAid, Ninja, Samsung, LG, Tommy Hilfiger, Levis, Puma, NutriBullet, Cuisinart, Brita, Contigo, Henckles, American Girl, Hatchimals, Power Wheels, KidKraft, Fisher Price… the list goes on. All of these items are at a discount compared to department stores.
• Their wine and beer selection is not only extensive but again you cannot beat the prices. Each time I take a trip I save $3 on my favorite bottle of wine… in a year I save over $40… that’s practically the membership fee. 
• Their kid items are amazing and the best prices there are. Pajamas, clothing, shoes, winter jackets, mittens, halloween costumes, toys, books, dvds, diapers, wipes… the only problem with getting everything my kids wear at Costco is that at school or at playgroups everyone else is wearing the same thing! But don’t worry I have sharpies (from Costco) for that!
• Lastly, the Kirkland brand items are usually just as good as the brand name items (if not better) and they are even a better price. Kirkland paper towels, apple sauce pouches, trail mix, pajamas, leggings and other things are staples in our house.

Already a member?

Refer a friend who takes advantage of the above deal and you will receive a $10 Costco Cash Card. The only caveat is you need to be present with the new member when your friend redeems their membership certificate in the warehouse. Limit to 10 referrals per person.

You do not need to be a member to attend (you do need to be a member to make purchases!) although once you are there and see what they have to offer, chances are you will want to take advantage of their membership special!

• General Admission: This ticket is for any adult who HAS a Costco Membership already

  • Once you get your email confirmation you will need to print it out and go into Costco to sign up for the membership. You can do this the morning of the event, however, we HIGHLY recommend that you go to Costco BEFORE the day of the event. We want to make sure you get to enjoy the entire morning and don’t spend your time waiting in line to sign up for your new membership. So bring the printed confirmation (or show it on your phone) anytime between October 28th and November 11th and membership services will get you signed up and give you your cash card. Please note: If a friend is referring you, they will need to be with you to receive their cash card for referring.
• Kids: This ticket is for kids!
