Momma Needs to Relax: A Review of La Bella Derma Day Spa and a Giveaway!

I recently got to experience a facial at the newest Day Spa in the Greater Burlington area, and spoiler alert, I’m in love!

La Bella Derma2

La Bella Derma Day Spa recently opened its doors in South Burlington off of Dorset Street. It is founded by Chelsea, a Vermont licensed Esthetician specializing in medical spa services and laser treatments. Chelsea who has experience in both Resort and Medical Spa settings at the Essex Resort and Spa and Dorset Street Dermatology is merging both together in her beautiful space.

La Bella Derma1Although Chelsea does not currently have children, part of the purpose of opening her own spa is part of a much larger life plan to get herself in a position to be able to be a stay at home momma. Chelsea wants to have babies and have the flexibility to only have to work a few half days each week seeing her long-term clients. If the last couple of months are any indication, Chelsea is right on track.

La Bella Derma is located on Dorset Street on the second floor above Dankin Farms and Edible Arrangements. Her space is cozy, inviting and radiates relaxation. No detail was missed from the chaise lounge in the main area to the art on the walls.

La Bella Derma3Chelsea greeted me as soon as I entered the door, offering to take my jacket and told me to get comfy. The space consists of the main area (front desk, chaise lounge, products, etc), the treatment room, a bathroom and a second room in the back that Chelsea may use for a massage therapist or just keep for extra space.

la bella derma5The treatment room although simple, was perfect for its purpose. Chelsea left the room and had me undress to my comfort level, I took off everything but my underwear, and had me get on a table similar to that of a massage therapist. There was a heating pad that instantly had me relaxing before Chelsea even entered the room.

The next 50 minutes can only be described as Heaven.

I should explain that until my encounter with Chelsea, I had never had a facial before. I had this skewed perception that a facial consisted of green goo being put on my face with maybe some cucumbers and then being left alone for some period of time before it was washed off. Oh my gosh, I was so wrong!

I can’t completely explain what Chelsea did, because I was so relaxed that I went in and out of consciousness.

What I do remember is that my shoulders, scalp and face received a massage, that Chelsea put products on my face at three different times with warm soothing towels taking it off in between.

At one point I was so relaxed I wondered if I was having an “out of body experience”.

When Chelsea told me that the treatment was over, I had no concept of how much time had passed. Once I was dressed and was a puddle in the chaise lounge, I was lucky to remember to ask Chelsea any questions for this review or to take pictures!La Bella Derma4After the treatment I found that I had experienced a mix of an Ultra Calming Facial and a Pumpkin Enzyme peel.

It is obvious from talking to and receiving a treatment from Chelsea that she really loves what she does and she is an expert in her field. I highly recommend La Bella Derma Day Spa for anyone who wants to be pampered and relax. I think given the choice, I would even choose getting another facial with Chelsea over receiving a massage, which is saying something because I love massages!

I became a Vermont transplant ten years ago after meeting and falling madly in love with my husband, Jason, a South Burlington native at the University of New Hampshire. My education and training are in social work and although I left that career behind (at least for now) after my first child was born in 2014 my passion continues to be children, families, and the desire to connect moms to one another through building community. Fast forward to the present and my days are filled with parenting and chasing after two amazing and bright children, Caroline and Augie, and one fur baby, Copper, while trying to keep our home having some semblance of order. I am also an elected member of our local School Board.
