{We have partnered together with Northeastern Reproductive Medicine to bring you our Lullaby Wishes: raising infertility awareness series. We love what they are doing for women and couples in our community who are looking to start and expand their families, and we are honored to share more about NRM and their services.}

Did you know that infertility affects more than 3 million people in the U.S. each year alone? 10-15% of couples in the U.S. struggle with infertility.

At Northeastern Reproductive Medicine (NRM), we help individuals and couples throughout the Northeastern United States and Canada to realize their dreams—and build their families.  Are you having trouble conceiving or in a gay or lesbian relationship and you are ready to start your family? Are you single and wanting to know what you can do to preserve your fertility? At NRM, we can help.  For more information, call us at 802-655-8888 or find us online.

Are you a fertile woman between the ages of 21-32?

We have patients at NRM who need your help! Click here to learn more about becoming an egg donor for individuals or couples who dream of starting their family, but are limited by infertility or gender.

Are you trying to conceive and don’t know where to start? Or do you know someone struggling with fertility?

Step 1. Where do I begin?

Doctors Jennifer Brown, Christine Murray, and Peter Casson at NRM can help you evaluate any underlying fertility concerns. The first step is to set up a consultation. Your doctor will make an individualized plan for diagnostic evaluation, which can be completed quickly- within one menstrual cycle. Based on your history, we work with you to create a plan to increase your chances at conception.

Who should consider testing?

  • Women < 35 years old, following 12 months of regular intercourse.
  • Women > or = 35 years old, following 6 months of regular intercourse.
  • Women or couples who have experiences 2 or more pregnancy losses (miscarriages)
  • Women with:
    • Irregular menstrual cycles, or no cycles at all
    • Known or suspected problems in the uterus, fallopian tubes, or abdomen (like endometriosis)
    • Known or suspected male fertility problems

Step 2. What can I expect?

At NRM, we strive to provide a complete evaluation of your infertility while keeping your evaluation affordable. We provide high-level ultrasonography, rapid semen analyses,  in-house tubal evaluations (HyCoSy), and laboratory assays to allow you efficient and cost-effective diagnosis and treatment.

A basic evaluation may include:

  • Semen analysis
  • Hormonal evaluation of the female partner
  • Ultrasound evaluation of the uterus and ovaries
  • Hysterosalpingogram or HyCoSy to evaluate the patency of the fallopian tubes

Step 3. What are my treatment options?

We know there are many ways to build a family. Our goal at NRM is to guide you through your options so you can determine your best path. NRM offers a wide range of therapies to help you maximize your chances of reproductive success:

  • Basic therapy: such as ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination
  • Advanced therapy: such as in-vitro fertilization, egg donation, or use of a gestational carrier
  • Pre-implantation Genetic Screening: NRM is the only clinic in Vermont offering Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS), a state-of-the-art procedure utilized when undergoing IVF to select embryos free of chromosomal abnormalities. PGS can improve the likelihood of IVF success and healthy pregnancy.
  • NRM also offers pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), for individuals or couples who are known carriers of a specific genetic disease, such as Cystic Fibrosis, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, or other single gene disorders. PGD allows identification of genetic disease to avoid passing the genetic disorder to offspring.
  • Gender Selection: At NRM, gender (sex) selection offers patients the option of preferentially transferring embryos of one sex for medical reasons, family balancing, or other indications.

NRM LGBT services:

At Northeastern Reproductive Medicine, we have years of experience helping lesbian and gay individuals and couples build their families. There are multiple fertility options – including egg and sperm donors, or the use of a gestational carrier. Come in to discuss your hopes with a physician and to make a plan to start your family.

Can I delay childbearing? Preserve my fertility?

  • Many events in our lives can delay our timelines for starting a family: women marry later in life, or choose to delay childbearing for their career development or other personal reasons.
  • Some medical treatments for cancer or autoimmune disease can harm eggs or sperm in
individuals who want to have a family after recovering from their treatments
  • Modern techniques for fertility preservation can provide peace of mind and help couples
and individuals keep their options open for future fertility.
