So I’m a little behind in my Belly Chronicles series (as I am currently 31 weeks pregnant), but I thought I would go back and recap my second trimester since I find myself longing for the ease of those days 🙂
The second trimester in pregnancy is amazing…really, it is! After the first trimester filled with nausea, heartburn, bloating, constipation, lack of energy, and uncomfortable stretching, the second trimester feels like an amazing respite from the trials of pregnancy! Oh sure, there are still the occasional aches and pains or feelings of nausea, but for the most part it was smooth sailing for me in both my pregnancies.
My nausea went away at about 14 weeks while still making the occasional appearance and my food aversions started to dissipate. I actually had energy to do things (amazing!) and I could rest pretty well at night. A lot of my intestinal issues disappeared as well, which made for one happy momma.
Now if all that wasn’t great enough, I also got to find out that we are having a little girl (Maggie Grace), have a 3D ultrasound from Before Birth Bonding, and start to feel her move. Feeling your little baby move inside you is still one of the most amazing things I have yet to experience!
So now that I find myself in the uncomfortable third trimester, I am thankful for the “break” of the second, and eagerly anticipating the arrival of our little girl!
Food Cravings: chips, sweets (especially doughnuts), salad
Food Aversions: Not too many, although deli meat still kind of makes me squeamish.
Most Annoying Symptom: the occasional heartburn. Oh how I hate heartburn!
Weight Gained So Far: At the end of my second trimester I had gained 13 pounds. I’m trying to stay around 25 pounds total this time (I gained 28 with my first)…so far so good!
Due date: May 9th
What I can’t currently live without: A hot shower. I LOVE taking nice, long hot showers when I’m pregnant (not too hot of course). They are so calming and help with any aches and pains I may be experiencing.
