Swap and Shop Event {Tickets on Sale Now!}

Spring is coming and it’s time to do some decluttering and enjoy a fun afternoon out with other moms! We’ve had several moms request a clothing swap type event and we finally decided to tackle it by combining it with an event that we’ve been wanting to do for awhile; a “Mommy Market”. We live in such an amazing community with so many “momprenuers”. We want to highlight these moms and their businesses, and see the moms in our community come together to support them.

So by combining these two ideas, the First Annual Swap & Shop event was born!

When: Saturday, April 11th

Time: 10am-1pm

Where: The Schoolhouse in South Burlington, 8 Catkin Dr.

*Please note, this event is kid friendly! Feel free to bring your kiddos if need be!

Each ticket will include access to the swap as well as our Mommy Market where we will have 20 “momprenuers” who will be sharing their businesses with you all and providing some fun activities such as massages, henna and yoga demos to name a few (all included in the $5 ticket price!). We will also have some delicious bagels from Myer’s Bagels and Feldman’s Bagels along with some other snacks and drinks for you all to enjoy (again, included in the $5 ticket price!).

In the next week we will be introducing you to the 20 “momprenuers” who will be highlighted at our Mommy Market, but we wanted to go ahead and share some important details of the “Swap” part of the event.

First, a huge thank you to The Schoolhouse for providing the space for this event! Located in South Burlington, it is a state approved elementary school and licensed childcare center that has provided quality care to the community for over 40 years!

Swap and Shop

What is a Swap?

  • The goal of a swap is to declutter, save money and recycle, all while having some fun! This swap will include kid’s clothing (infant through size 12) and shoes, maternity clothes, books (adult and children), puzzles and small toys. The basic premise is you bring your old items you don’t want anymore and walk away with new items that you love!

How will the Swap work?

  • During the first hour of the event, people bring in AT LEAST 5 items (if they have not been brought previously). While our volunteer team works at organizing and sorting the items, moms can enjoy themselves in the Mommy Market full of local “momprenuers” sharing about their businesses! You can also have some henna done, jump into the massage chair for a quick massage, and snack on some yummy food and drink (all included in the ticket price).

What can I donate?

  • You can bring children’s clothing (infant to size 12) and shoes, maternity clothes, books (adult and children), puzzles, and small toys.
  • Please make sure that all clothes have been laundered and have no holes, stains, etc. and that all toys, puzzles, and books are in good shape.
  • You must bring at least 5 items to participate in the swap, but can bring as many items as you’d like!

When can I bring it?

  • You can set up a custom time to drop off your items leading up to the event by emailing us at [email protected]. We will set up a time and location to meet you and pick up your items.
  • Items can also be dropped off at The Schoolhouse on Friday evening (April 10th) from 6-8pm or on Saturday morning (April 11th) during the first hour of the event (10-11am).

How many pieces can I take?

  • We will have bags that will be given to each attendee upon arrival. Each attendee can fill their bag with items, and take home whatever can fit in their bag. We ask that you only take what can fit in your bag.

How much does a ticket cost and when/where do I buy one?

  • We typically sell tickets to our events ahead of time, so we can have a clear picture of how many moms will be attending for planning purposes. We would like to keep that same structure for this event. All tickets can be bought beforehand at the eventbrite link below.
  • All tickets are $5, but you must bring at least 5 items to participate in the swap. Your ticket includes access to the swap, with the ability to bring home one bag of new items, access to the Mommy Market and snacks and drinks.
  • We will be verifying to make sure that all moms have brought at least 5 items before the participate in the swap portion of the event.
