Orleans County Fair

This is an old-time agricultural county fair with entertainment and fun for the entire family. There will be:

  • Midway rides
  • Animal exhibits and judging shows; (horse shows, horse pulls, horse harness racing, gymkhana, dairy cattle shows, beef shows, oxen show, ox pulling, milking parlor demonstrations, sheep shows, petting zoo, poultry exhibit, rabbit exhibit, alpaca exhibit).
  • Agricultural displays include; horticulture display, arts & crafts, wool spinning, farm machinery dealer display, antique farm machinery.
  • Evening entertainment is comprised of 4×4 truck pulling, music, and the Demolition Derby.
  • Mini-Farm, Mini-Barns, Mini-Farmers! This year children will have a chance to be a real farmer. Mini-farmers will have a first hand opportunity to collect eggs, pick apples, milk cows, and peddle tractors to the farmer’s market. At the market they will receive play money for their produce which they can then use to purchase a healthy treat at the farmer’s market.
  • Scarecrow University. The showcase for the scarecrow contest. Children can attend Scarecrow University and color on the chalk board, play scarecrow memory games, do scarecrow word searches,color pages to hang on the wall and listen to a scarecrow read a story. When they are ready to leave children will get to ring the school bell and receive a Scarecrow University diploma and bookmark.

Cost: $10 per day Wednesday through Sunday | Pay one price Incl admission to fairgrounds & Midway rides. Under 3 years old free. Sr. Citzens Fri. – $7

Shakespeare in the Park at Oakledge Park

Vermont Shakespeare Company presents their 7th season of this beloved summer tradition. Join them for an unforgettable evening in the park to see A Midsummer Nights Dream, one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays

Shows are family friendly and they offer a child-friendly synopsis of the show- available at the box office.  A Midsummer Nights Dream is appropriate for children over 10 years old.

RU12?/Pride Center of Vermont LGBTQA Family Program Picnic Potluck and Field Day

This event  will be taking place from 10 am to 2 pm at Wrightsville Beach in Middlesex and is for LGBTQ families with and without kids and their families of choice (allies included). Bring your little ones (if you have them), a potluck item to share, any outdoor game supplies you see fit, and some sunscreen, and join us There will be beach ball volleyball, face painting, coloring, bubbles and other

Field Day events just for the kiddos! Also on site are disc golf, swimming, kayak and canoe rentals, and charcoal barbecues. And per usual, there will be plenty of good conversation, LGBTQA community-building and amazing food!
